DIET OF THE STONE LIZARD Cyrtodactilus marmoratus (Kuhl, 1826) IN SOUTHERN SLOPE OF MOUNT MERAPI, YOGYAKARTA SPECIAL PROVINCE

Abstract

This sudy took place on Kaliurang around Tlogo Putri recreational area and Boyong river, Mount Merapi National Park. This area was choosen based on the reason of natural habitat of Cyrtodactilus marmoratus which are tropical rainforest, riverside area and rocky land. Data field sampling, ident and laboratory analysis was done on October 2008- March 2009. This study was purposed to know composition and food preference of C. marmoratus, and also the differences of composition or preference between female and male C. marmoratus found in Mount Merapi National Park especially in the south slope of Merapi.
Specimen was collected by grabbing both by hard or stick used for directing the lizard. Food preference was studied by dissecting and analyzing the stomach of C. marmoratus. Results shows that insects are the main diet (60.98%). Which are Isopterans, Dipterans, Coleopterans, Coleopterans larvae, Blattarians and Orthopterans. The other were egg shell, lizard old scales and plant material. The result shows that there is diets preference differences netween female and male C. marmoratus. Female C. marmoratus prefer Coleopteran Larvae as diets.
